Adams Brothers, Printers, London, 1894
Octavo. Stapled pale grey wrappers, titles to upper wrapper in black. Scattered light foxing to covers and endpapers, staples rusted, some nicks and chips. With loss to spine, wrappers partially detached but holding. Contents clean and fresh. A good complete copy of a particularly fragile item.
Reprinted from 'The Zoologist', 1891, with corrections, and published under the pseudonym of G. Norman Douglass while the author worked for the Diplomatic Service stationed at the British Embassy in St Petersburg.
Douglas' bibliographer states, "Probably fewer than 50 copies were issued .... for private circulation." Rare.
