(HUGHES, Ted). NEW LIBRARY: THE PEOPLE'S NETWORK
Type: Ephemera
Vendor: Watersmead Books
Description:
Library and Information Commission, 1997
First Edition.
Folio, spiral-bound. Original stiff decorative wrappers and chapter dividers hand printed in colour. A few minor marks, fore-edge finger-soiled, what looks like a faint smear of correction fluid to upper wrapper. A very good copy.
This report was produced by a committee of the Library and Information Commission to argue for the introduction of the Internet into public libraries. It contains the first appearance of "Hear it Again", Hughes' poem about libraries, later included in his Collected Poems, as well as hand-printed designs by Alan Kitching of the Typography Workshop. Roughly 50 copies of the report were produced.
